Youth of The Year

Youth of the Year State Final was hosted by Lions Club of Brisbane North and held at Virginia Palms Motel in Brisbane.The function on 5th Paril was well attended with 70 guests from throughout Queensland – with the four “Q” Districts being represented.

As expected at this level of Judging, the students Public Speaking was very impressive and confident. The District representatives were:

District 201Q1 Emilia Wedemeyer from A.B. Paterson College; Sponsored by the Lions Club of Helensvale. Her speech title was “Right or Wrong”.

District 201Q2 Rory Franklin from Holy Spirit College Mackay; Sponsored by the Lions Club of Mackay Blue River. His speech title was “AI is the Future”.

District 201Q3 Melody Cherrie from Bribie Island SHS; Sponsored by the Lions Club of Bribie Island. Her speech title was “Advance Australia Fair”.

District 201Q4 Jasper Robinson from Fraser Coast Anglican College; Sponsored by the Lions Club of Fraser Coast. His speech title was “The Reality of Women Everywhere”.

The Judges retired for quite some time as the summing up and appointing the winner of Public Speaking and (Overall) Winner was not an easy one. During this time, last year’s State Winner – Gloria Adzraku kept the audience captive with her entertaining speech.
